The Taliban are a political group and a religious faction from Afghanistan. It was formed in the mid 1990s. It is led by Abdul Ghani Baradar and Mohammad Oma. They refer to themselves as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. There are at least 60,000 members. They are at war in Afghanistan.

I The Taliban or Taleban, who refer to themselves as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, are a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist political movement and military organization in Afghanistan currently waging war within that country. Since 2016, the Taliban's leader is Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada.
