Why we're Copernicus ideas about the order of the universe deemed to be dangerous to church thinking

Copernicus posited a heliocentric model of the solar system, which directly challenged the church's idea that the earth was the center of the solar system. Since the church was the ultimate authority, a challenging opinion would therefore seem dangerous.
