A baby demonstrates behaviors of both wakefulness and sleep; there is generalized motor activity; the baby's eyes may be closed, or they may open and close rapidly. What is the term for this state, which occurs when the baby is awakening?

    Answer: Sleep-wake transition

    Explanation: Sleep-wake transition normally occurs when one transit from one sleep stage to another or from being awake to being sleepy and vice versa. It is a disorder which can occur due to medical reasons as well as age.

    It show that the internal timing is off compared to the external timing.

    What the baby is demonstrating between his/her wakefulness stage to sleep state and vice versa is known as Sleep-wake transition.
