The first big wave of immigrants that came to the United States were ussually wealthy, educated skill workers and were brought here mainly by a pull factor, they were attracted to the possibilities that America had to offer.

Compared to the second big wave of immigrants that were un educated, poor, un skilled workers that were broght here by a combination of push and pull factors, they were being persecuted for religious reasons or were being forced to go to war, so that added to the opportunities that america offered brought them here.
