Differences: The current form of governance in India is democratic which was not the case about the Mauryan Empire. There was no division of power in the Mauryan Empire as the emperor bore the powers to decide in all the matters. The current form of government in India has separate powers for the central government and state governments.

Similarities: Similar to present-day India, there was a hierarchy of officials present in the Mauryan Empire. The Mauryan Empire was also divided into major divisions for the convenience of administration.

Suggestion for the improvement of the administrative system of India: The Indian government should adopt a system through which the central government gets to intervene in matters pertaining to conflicts between the states. It should take steps to make it judiciary work faster.
