    "Samele Thyone" was a Theban princess. He was a favorite of Zeus and bore her a son named "Dionysus." Their affair came to Hera's (Zeus' wife) senses. She then tricked the girl by telling her to ask Zeus to appear to her as a divine being. Zeus didn't want to do this but did what he promised, for he loved Samele and would do anything for her. Mortals would normally be consumed by fire when they look at the gods. Thus, Samele was consumed by Zeus' lightning bolts.
