There's lot of challenges when it comes to keeping an animal in captivity, or rather in the zoological settings. All animals have different needs and behaviors, as well as sizes and mating rituals.

In order for an enclosure to be perfectly set so that the animal can feel good and be able to perform its normal activities, there has to be taken all things in consideration. The size of the enclosure, what should be in the enclosure, the temperature, water, humidity, vegetation, stimulation for activity. Also, for some species the mating in captivity is extremely hard process, so very careful and detailed approach should be in place, the pandas being a perfect example of this.
