Healthy spiritual development would most likely reduce the likelihood of Substance and alcohol abuse.

The abuse usually happens on adolescences because they see it as a coping mechanism in dealing with low-self esteem or other type of problems.

Healthy spiritual development tend to make them have a more positive outlook toward life so the substances do not seemed necessary any longer.
