What is the difference between a positive sanction and a negative sanction? Which is more common?

    A positive sanction rewards a specific behavior, and a negative sanction uses punishments to enforce conformity. We use positive sanctions in order to encourage people not to fall below the law and suffer punishments (negative sanction), making positive sanctions more common.
