the number of participants who park in the spot they are directed to

    Explanation:

In an experiment to determine the relation between two variables the effect that the change of one variable has on the other variable is studied.

The variable which changes irrespective of the other variable is the independent variable but it causes a change in the other variable.

The other variable which changes from the influence of the independent variable is called the dependent variable.

The type of clothing worn by the person would be the independent variable.

Here, the dependent variable would be the number of people who park at the location where they are shown.
