In 1928, Joseph Stalin introduced the first Five Year Plan in the Soviet Union. Under the Five Year Plans, the government set specific goals for industrial and agricultural production. Why did Stalin implement these programs?

    The purpose of the five year plan was to greatly increase industrial production. The overall goal of the five year plans was to greatly increase machinery production, new factories, increased oil production and more electrical power plants
