According to traffic laws, it is illegal to pass another vehicle if you are within 100 feet of a bridge, tunnel or a viaduct. Also, it is illegal to pass another vehicle if you are 100 feet of or traversing any intersection or railroad grade crossing. These actions are considered illegal because your visibility in those cases is very restricted. Under restricted visibility, drivers should proceed with caution. These rules exist in order to protect drivers from dangerous situations on the road.

The traffic law that is prohibited in regards of not passing a vehicle within 100 feet is when you are on a viaduct, bridge or tunnel. It is because this is likely to be dangerous and if there is something that may be wrong with the way you pass the vehicle, it could cause serious accidents as the place isn’t the same as the normal road ways.
