How did Samuel Slater and Francis Cabot Lowell change and advance American manufacturing?

Samuel Slater was an Englishman who brought to the United States a different approach to textile technology and to the textile industry in general. He designed the first textile mills and brought his knowledge from the Industrial Revolution in England to the northeast. Francis Cabot Lowell introduced the first integrated textile mill to the United States which converted raw cotton into finished cloth in one mill building, instead of several.
