According to the symbolic interactionist george herbert mead, playing organized games is an important part of an older childs development because: Game playing involves taking on multiple roles and learning to anticipate and coordinate with other players' actions.

George herbert argue that in organized games (such as football, basketball, soccer, paintball, etc) will forced the player to socially engage with one another to find out each of their strength and weakness and developed a plan together in order to achieve victory.
