    Descriptive or reporting analytics: This involves understanding the various happenings and trends in an organization and identifying the causes of these occurrences.

    Predictive analytics: This is geared towards making predictive analysis (likr future occurrence) based on statistical calculations and techniques which fall under data mining.

    Prescriptive analytics: recognizes the current situation/happening and the likely forecast and makes decisions based on this to achieve the best performance possible.
