Usually voting takes place in a polling building, now that many states are in lockdown, polling buildings have been closed or open for minimal use. Voting has been affected by states that are not allowing voters to apply for absentee ballots for fear of contracting the virus. Those people may not go to their polling places to vote at risk of their lives.
