Sheppard is a very observant person, and when he sees cybil with mark, especially noticing cybil and mark holding hands and smiling at each other, he is certain that they are romantically involved. sheppard's conclusion is more of an inference than a fact.

    That statement is true.

    Inference refers to the process of connecting the existing premises in order to make an initial conclusion.

    Since we haven't tested that conclusion with scientific research, we couldn't consider the conclusion as a 'fact'
