What was the primary reason the United States did not support the Vietnamese in their struggle for independence from France during the 40's and 50's?

    The answer would be : the united States feared that the vietnamese revolution would spread instability throughout Asia. Back then, the south Asia territory was controlled and regulated by Different Countries (mostly Europeans). The United States feared that if they assist Vietnam, it will bring Chaos to other Controlled territory since the Vietnamese way of Revolution seemed as radical
