    Repression is the process of trying to suppress a memory that provokes bitter feelings from your conscious awareness. For example, in a school affair when you were trying to present something in front of the crowd, you embarrassed yourself by stuttering because you were not prepared well. you were trying to repress that memory in order to move on.
