Name of the bill or law: H. R. 6784: Manage our Wolves Act

    Level of government: Federal Government

Purpose of the bill or law: To provide for removal of the gray wolf in the contiguous 48 States from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife published under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.

History of the bill or law: The committees assigned to this bill sent it to the House or Senate as a whole for consideration on September 26, 2018. The House Majority Leader indicated on Nov 8, 2018 that this bill may be considered in the week ahead.

Considerations: Supporters were really keen to see this bill enacted as many consider the gray wolf has now become a pest especially for ranchers. Critics say it will only put the species back in the endangered Species Act within a matter of few years.

How it will affect american life: If enacted, this bill will change hunting permits, including the grey wolf. It will also create further friction between environmental groups and ranchers/farmers.

How could the bill or law affect other levels of government: It may drive the States to change the conditions and nature of their hunting permits.
