The patronage of preeminent nobles to musicians and their songs.

    Explanation:

The secular music was present during the Middle Ages with the trobadors and the madrigals. However, the strength of the Church didn't allow these songs to be played. With the Humanism and the praise of the classical elements during the Renaissance, secular songs became more and more present on the court of nobles who saw in those songs an opportunity to stand out as a patron of art and culture. To the musicians, it was a chance to be known and spread their songs.
