Explain Spain goals in exploring and conquering the Americans

Spain's goals in exploring/conquering the Americas essentially is for the benefit of the country Spain as a whole. By venturing off to the Americas they had a better opportunity of getting goods, land in the form of colonies or territory, resources, and a more complete geographic map that other countries didn't have at the time.
