    D.

    Explanation:

European powers drew up new political borders in the region without consulting political, cultural, or historic realities. This would cause immense conflict in the years to come, not just in the Middle East but in Africa, as well.

    D. because the French and British, promise the arabs a united arab state, yet they colonized, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine (Israel), and Kuwait. they lumped together the Kurdish, with both the Sunni and Shia Muslims in Iraq, they lumped together the Shia and Catholic Lebanese, with the Syrians (they got independence) and Israelis, flocked over to palistine. all this, is the cause of today's problems. from muslims flocking to Europe, to islamic extremeism, to the Israeli palistinian conflict, etc.
