Why is henry so intent on obliterating memory of everything done by one party or the other in the years immediately prior to his coronation as king of france?

    Henry IV wanted to extend and reinforce his power by unifying and bringing an end to the disastrous Religious Wars. Therefore, obliterating the memory of the past allows the country to move forward.
