Hyla never swears in front of her parents, but she frequently does so with her friends. this is an example of how language use is not guided by rules.

    It could be stated that understanding and the type of communication depend on a particular situation. Individuals are not aware of the rules that guide how, when, where and whom they communicate that is why Hyla communicates in one way while being with their parents and in a different way when she meets her friends.
