How does the first amendment to the U. S. Constitution protect the media

The U. S. Constitution's first amendment protect the media by giving them the freedom of speech or of the press. They are given the right speak freely. However, this right has a limitation wherein the freedom of speech or of the press should not be exercised if it threatens national security.

Freedom of the press would not be granted if the individual were a "clear and present" danger to the United States security. The government would exact prior restraint in the freedom of the press. Prior restraint will be given where the government will not censor information before it is written and published to be served to the general public except in the most extreme cases of national security.
