    Sectionalism refers to the division between life in the North and life in the South. It refers to the loyalty to just a single part of a country instead of being loyal at the whole nation. The United States was divided into the North and the South. They did not agree and that brought problems that led to the civil war. In the 1800s sectionalism grow and when a great amount of people moved to the West it provoked a new division.
