    In Texas, USA; It is illegal to keep the ignition on, and leaving your vehicle unattended or without anyone inside it. Leaving your car unattended, while the ignition is on can give you a violation ticket. It is considered to be illegal, because this violation combats the cases of getting your vehicle stolen. Every year, there is an estimated of 500,000 cars being stolen every year and half of the cases are because of the driver’s fault. Which is why, leaving your car unattended with the ignition is on, is prohibited and illegal to prevent getting your car stolen.
