    The British Imperialism over India started during the 18th Century. Great Britain ruled over India till when India gained their Independence.

    During the British Imperialism of India,

    certain things were achieved by Great Britain such as:

    a. The development and construction of the railway system in India that allowed for trading activities in India.

    b. Building of water systems, Hospitals, Schools, Telephone lines e. t. c.

    There was an intended consequence or disadvantage the British had on India during imperialism. This intended consequence or disadvantage was that instead of focusing on developing the agricultural system in India to produce more food, the British government focused on the production of cash crops such as cotton.

    This action by the British government lead to a great decrease in the wealth and prosperity of India as well as a great damage to the economy of India. There was an increase of famine due to food shortage and a lot of Indians died in millions due to this as a lot of Indians were starving.
