How was the democracy of Athens different from the government led by Pharaohs of Egypt and kings of Mesopotamia?

    In the democracy of Athens, they pretty much voted on every single thing, so it was a democracy. But, with the Pharaoh's and Kings, there was an absolute monarchy, which means that that one person had all of the power. If the monarch wanted to exile someone, he could do it with nobidy bcking him up, its his decision, but if the Athens people wanted to exile somebody, they would have to have 50% + 1 person vote on exile.
