The biggest difference is in their locations.

    Explanation:

Suburbs are places to live just outside of the city and the city can be easily accessible. It means that people living in the suburbs can enjoy the city's life if they want to: they still have to have a car or other means of transport to get to the city but the distance is not too great. They can easily go to the movies or to a particular restaurant and return home for the night. Most commuting workers live in the suburbs and so do families with small children who seek a peaceful area for their children to grow in.

Exurbs are located farther from the city, often in rural areas or in coastal resorts. They are suitable for people who look for complete privacy and who do not need to be in the city every day. They may be retired people or people who work from home. Exurbs are also used as a place for a second residence.
