They both have a quarrel for honor caused for the love of a woman Briseis

Agamemnon had a trophy of war chrysies but is forced to return her to his father who begged Apollo for her and then a plague was released against his army. Here we can perceive that his honor was betrayed and he wanted a new one in return so he goes now for Briseis.

in the other hand Achilles declared he loved this woman and he is concerned more about his honor so that he decides to retire his entire float from Agamemnon's army, it can be said that Agamemnon the kind of honor of a king who possesses things while Achilles wants honor of a warrior who deserves respect for commanding one of the best armies.
