Why did the colonists resist the new taxes imposed on them?

    The colonists rejected the taxes because they had taxation without represntation

    They resisted most of the new taxes for the fact that they didn't have representation in parliament. Taxation without Representation was their motto.

    They wanted some say that in what type taxes were being placed on them and why.
