To provide for reforestation and the proper use of marginal lands in the Tennessee Valley

To provide for the agricultural and industrial development of said valley; developing agriculture, commerce and industry in the valley; and operating the hydroelectric Wilson Dam

This agency was also important because it generated and sold surplus electricity, created jobs, and conserved water power.
