Respondent: John's heart started to beat faster

Operant: Running of John when dog barked

    Explanation:

In the above question, John is part of both the respondant and the operant. Respondant in the case, that when he watched the dog, he starts to run fast and one of the reaction of running fast or respondant mentioned is his hear beat.

Similarly, operant is that which makes the respondant to react, although John is playing but he starts to react when he watches the dog barking at him and out of fear or survival he responds

    Respondent: John's heart beats faster

Operant: John runs away from the dog in fear

    Explanation:

The respondent behaviour may not be controlled fully because they are like reflex action for instance John' s heart start to beat faster because the Dog was attacking him while the operant behaviour can still be controlled that is they are voluntary for instance John ran into the house to get away from the dog.
