In what way were herbert spencer and émile durkheim alike in their thinking and understanding of society?

    Both saw society as a set of interdependent parts: one piece of social action influenced all the other parts. These parts, by being connected, are able to keep the entire society stable. This is where the functionalist perspectives are born: the idea that each part of society has a function that is as important as every other part.
