You know the people in your group are smart and capable but instead of listening to everyone in the group, Martin, who has an outgoing personality and dominates discussion, decides what should be done and cuts off everyone else in the group and suggests the group move forward since they all agree on what to do.     Martin is definitely not an expert in group process because if he was, he wouldn't have cut everyone else in the group off despite the fact that people in the group are smart and capable.

    Groupthink theory was first developed by a social psychologist with the name Irving Janis in his study which was carried out in the year 1972

    Groupthink simply means a psychological phenomenal in which members of a group strive to reach a general agreement within the group. This can be further explain as a situation where individual beliefs is suppressed and the general opinion of the group is unanimously adopted.
