The period of adolescence is also known as one that skills and knowledge are developed, and people learn to manage relationships and emotions. It is also a time when abilities and attributes necessary for adulthood are acquired. Adolescence and adolescents are of great interest to social scientist because it is important to understand this group of persons face early life crises, understand the physical, emotional and intellectual changes that occur in them and how they might impact their lives. By studying adolescents, social scientist learn how and why adolescents develop in the way they do and thus they are able to find out efficient ways to aid their development as responsible citizens who can make positive contributions to the society.
