The Soviet Union was the first Communist nation in the world.

People caught trying to leave were killed or put in prison.

Life was very easy.

People fled to other countries if they could.

Dissident authors were fined.

Communism was a type of government that believed that everything should be regulated by the community as a whole.

    People were "allowed" to follow any religion they wanted but atheism was enourcaged. People were deported simply for their beliefs, and there were several purges of priests. In 1915, Russia had 54,000 churches. In 1940, there were 500.

    Workers didnt have set pay they were paid by the amount they produced rather than the quality of what they produced this was called 'progressive piecework'
