The religion is for the people by the people and to the people. In dictionaries, religion is defined as "any specific system of belief, worship, or conduct that prescribes certain responses to the existence (or non-existence) and character of God." Also, "a set of attitudes, beliefs, and practices pertaining to supernatural power."

    how it unites the people?

The religion is necessary for human beings. The religion shows good way of life. The religion is good guide to the human society. The religion teaches good and bad. The religion speaks discipline, decorum. The religion says about duty, karma. The religion shows good life and teaches the benefits of good works. The religion teached ''what we sow we get''. The human society was taught of heaven and hell. so, a religion showed good ways to the human society and hence it is necessary for the welfare of the people.

The religion is a society formed by humans in ancient days when people lived in an uncivilized manner. The people lived on their own without any guidance. They lived as per their desires without any way of living. so, the humans formed a society to show way of life to the people and taught civilization, way of living, showing good guidance. Naturally, the religion associated with god since we need a leader and no one best than the supernatural.

it unites all people to pray god, to devote god, to put faith on god.

    how it divides the people?

All religions are a way of life to the various sections of people who lived on different continents. People living in India developed their own way of life like worshipping everything which is useful to mankind. Hindus are the true environmentalists. Muslims who originated in the Middle East had to adjust their way of life according to their environment both geographically and how they had to overcome the weather and they needed a leader in the form of Mohamed. Likewise, Chritians who thought they were exploited by the Jews started their own life ways in the form of the ten commandements which were taught by other religions in some form or the other. Religions develop because of exloitations.

The religions way was based on the climate, language, style of living etc., so, people worship, pray etc., in different ways, but they do prayers, they worship. one region is hot. one region is wet. one region have heavy rain. one region no rain. so, according to the climate they do works. Then language. All religions goal is one. Aim is one. Motivation is one.
