Option B. One advantage for the South at the beginning of the Civil War was that the region had cotton that it could sell to Europe.

    Explanation:

At the time the Civil War erupted, Cotton had become one of the most valuable commodities of the United States, as it comprised 59% of all the exports the country produced. Most of the world's cotton supply came from the South region of the United States, and as the slogan of the 1840's said "Cotton is King". It gave tremendous leverage to the South and the Confederate forces, as the Confederate forces knew that although the North was known for their big and successful industries, the South had the power of producing the most valuable crop of the Country, that they could still sell to Europe even at War times.
