Mr. Belding wants to reduce prejudice toward incoming minority students at his elementary school.     I believe the answer is: the contact hypothesis.

    According to the contact hypothesis, prejudice between different groups in society could be significantly reduced if they make contact with one another on a friendly basis.

    One thing that we can do to utilize the contact hypothesis is by friendly competition like Mr. Belding made and require students from different cultural background to become part of one team and work together for the same goal.
