    Explanation: The White colony was reestablished in 1587 by John White, although it was originally established in 1585 by Sir Walter Raleigh because Queen Elizabeth wanted to establish colonies in the Americas as the Spanish was doing. John White brought with him men, women and children and they found the fort that Sir Walter Raleigh built.

    After they ran out of food and supplies, John White had to return to England for supplies but couldn't come back to the colony for 3years as England was in war then. Upon his return to the colony, he found no inhabitants and only the word "Roanoke". This led to different theories about what could have happened to the settlers as no one knows till date.
