The problem of pollution, therefore, concerns the quality of life of human settlements. The degradation of man's environment causes a deterioration of this quality, since environmental conditions are indispensable for life, both in the biological and social sense. The degradation in quality life is all about the pollution.

From the industrial revolution, pollution became a problem for humanity. Of course there were examples of pollution before, in some cases even famous (in the Roman Empire, for example). But the degree of pollution has greatly increased with industrialization and urbanization, and its scale is no longer local to become planetary. This is not only because industry is primarily responsible for the release of pollutants into the environment, but also because the Industrial Revolution represented the consolidation and globalization of capitalism, the dominant socio-economic system in the world today.
