Beatrice and benedick say that lovers are fools, and they want nothing to do with love. why do you think they say this?

    I think the most likelly reason why they said both that things is because they have genuinely loved somebody in the past but it turned out to be bad experiences for them.

    Because of this, they reflected their past personal experience to other people and generalizing all lovers as 'idiots'
