The Unified Juvenile Court Act which was approved by the American Bar Association in 1968, has its section 1, reaffirms the basic philosophy of all juvenile court acts by stating the major purpose of the Act is to to provide care, protection, and wholesome moral, mental, and physical development of children coming within its provisions.

Some of the other provisions in the Act are:

1. Protection of juveniles who commit delinquent acts from the taint of criminality and punishment thereby replacing with treatment, training, and rehabilitation;
