All citizens because direct democracy, also called pure democracy, is a form of democracy, in which power is exercised directly by the people in an assembly. Depending on the powers of this assembly, citizens could approve or repeal laws, as well as elect public officials. Direct democracy was exercised in Ancient Greece, and today testimonially in the annual assembly of the citizens of some Swiss high mountain cantons.
