C - Humanists were inspired by classical texts and emphasized the dignity and worth of the individual.

    Explanation:

Humanism or Humanist Movement was an intellectual movement that evolved during the renaissance period with a key focus on promoting humanity. Prior to the advent of this movement, the central focus was on religion. However, the corruption in the church coupled with the idea of payment for indulgence as a prerequisite for making heaven, scholars began to think outside the box of religion, and they came up with the idea or movement of humanism which emphasized the dignity and worth of the individual, than that of the church. The movement advocated that spirituality does not require a third party. That one can commune directly with his God without necessarily going through a third party. The movement also promoted the idea of equality of all human beings, irrespective of ethnicity, race, sex, color, etc. It also advocated that humans are the center of attraction and that no other creature is above the human being. It also recognized the role that personal and cultural diversity plays in the life of every human being. It upheld the principle of freedom of thought, ideas and belief, and condemned violence in all its form. The movement also sought to bring an end to human pain and suffering.
