European anti-Semitism contributed to the growth of Zionism in the late 1800s

    Explanation:

Zionism was an organized political movement that was found in the ninth century. However, its roots trace back to the sixth century. During this time, the Jews were captivated in Babylon, and the prophets encouraged them into believing in God so that they can get back into Palestine.

Over centuries, the Jews in Diaspora have hope of returning with messiah's come back who would deliver them. So they migrated to Palestine so that they can continue to exist. However, they remained a tiny community.
