Fort Ticonderoga was an important prize for the the New Englanders because this was the first time they defeated the british and captured a large fort with huge amount of supplies. This incident happened on 5th of May in the year 1775. The Britishers were totally unprepared and were surprised by the attack. Ethan Allen was the person that led the war along with a group that were known as Green Mountain Boys against the Britishers. The British Fort of Ticonderoga was located on Lake Champlain.
